If you've completed your BASI Level 2 and you want to carry on training, then your next step is to begin working towards your BASI Level 3.

With us, the Level 3 ski instructor training programme - or ISIA as it is often referred to - has been designed in order to allow you to both train and work throughout the season as an instructor.

We provide you with over 200 hours of tuition in various modules of the Level 3, including training you for technica skiingl, teaching skiing, language and mountain safety modules. Our Level 3 coaching team is an impressive group, consisting of a combination of BASI trainers, former National Team skiers and Mountain Leaders.

Like all of our training programmes, this course includes French classes, fitness classes, and support from our mentor and physio.

We have access to world-class ski servicing equipment, using the same machines as some of the world's best skiers. It’s a well-known fact that your equipment is only as good as its condition, so we use the fantastic Snowglide to keep our edges in the best condition possible! This is the same machine used by Ted Ligety, Lindesy Vonn, and Mikalea Shiffrin – three of the world’s best.

We like to start our training nice and early. There’s plenty to learn, so we get started right away.

Christmas/New Year

Teaching experience

Here we will largely focus on technical piste skiing and technical understanding. This will involve time on the race pistes, plenty of practise, and video analysis using Coach’s Eye (our analysis software partners). Technical skiing doesn't necessarily mean fast, it more commonly means accurate. This will be our focus.

With more ski teaching experience under your belt and a better understanding gained since your Level 2, we can start to look at some more advanced teaching techniques, including different teaching styles, how to teach advanced skiers and how to develop your analysis skills.

Half Term

Teaching experience

As conditions start to vary, with warm spells, cool spells and tricky mountain conditions all working against us, we begin to look at the safety aspects that come with working in the mountains. Avalanche awareness, navigation, ski touring techniques, knots and rope work all play a part in this part of the course. This will be twinned with techniques for variable terrain, moguls and off-piste whilst continuing to improve our knowledge on-piste and develop our teaching styles.

Here we try and put everything together. We encourage trainees to go ski touring in the spring conditions. All ski instructor trainees will be expected to plan and complete ski tours away from ski lifts.
