Our History

In 1987 Dave Beattie began the 3 Valleys Ski Company offering ski training from BASI qualified instructors, and in 1998 the name of this company changed to Skivolution. With Dave's passion for skiing and his credentials(BASI trainer) he was able to train and mentor many people to skiing excellence. The business's day to day activity was to teach holiday makers but in his spare time he taught those wanting to take their skiing to a more professional level. Many of these people went on to become BASI trainers and National Team skiers, and whilst the success of Dave's coaching was evident it was largely informal and done when it could be fitted in, until 2006.

In 2006 a seperate company was setup to train people that wanted to become ski instructors, this was a joint venture between Dave Beattie and close friend Dave Morris and it was one of the first training schools of it's kind in France. On the first year of the academy opening a young Blake Williams turned up to be trained. He quickly started to learn the ropes, taking every opportunity to learn from the best.

In 2009 Dave Morris's family grew and he needed a more secure income, so he unfortunately parted ways which was a huge loss to the programme however we still have strong ties with Dave. This left one directorship position available in the company and this was taken by Blake Williams who had shown impressive determination to become the best he could be. In no time he was a BASI ISTD and a BASI trainer.

Blake Williams and Dave Beattie have moved the Skivo Academy forward significantly from a small training organisation for BASI 1&2 to a training group offering training for instructors all the way to level 4. In 2010 Blake added the kids ski academy and this has seen great success with kids that having started their racing at Skivo Academy moving into National Ski Teams. One of the key points of the success of the Skivo Academy is the coaching staff. All of our coaches are qualified to the highest level of BASI, but for us that is not enough. They then need to have something more, be a BASI Trainer, ski in the Olympics, Mountain Leader qualifications, coach National Teams etc.

Today we are at the cutting edge of training with all of the best training facilities, ski equipment, ski servicing equipment, video anaylsis and coaches.
